In general, trams and trains are significantly safer than cars. There’s a simple reason for this: They’re on rails. Even if the driver of the tram shows up drunk, chances are that the worst that can happen is that they miss a stop or plow through an intersection a little too hard.

That said, that’s not *all* that can happen. As this video from Bulgaria shows us, sometimes, trams can just up and fly off the rails, slamming themselves into nearby telephone poles.
