The Velvet Ant, Velvet Wasp or "Cow Killer Ant" is a wasp whose females are wingless and pack a nasty sting. They invade the nests of ground-nesting bees or wasps and lay their eggs there. The larvae hatch and parasitize the host larvae or pupae.
