There’s a common theory in the UFO community that aliens began coming to earth with greater frequency after we detonated the first atomic bomb. No one is quite sure *why* they decided to do this — some say it was to warn us about the power of nuclear energy, while my personal theory is that it accidentally sent an interplanetary signal that we had cattle in need of mutilation.

Before now, there wasn’t much data to back this theory up — or any UFO theory, for that matter. But some interesting information has come to light that sure as heck makes it seem like aliens have a thing for radiation.

Pentagon releases new map of UFO hotspots. Japan turns out to be a major hotspot. Specifically around Hiroshima and Nagasaki. (Article in submission statement)

According to a map released by the Pentagon, a major hotspot for “Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena,” as they call them, is Japan, specifically the areas where we dropped two nuclear bombs.

“The area is one of the three most prominent locations for UFOs in the world, along with a patch of the Middle East that includes Iraq and Syria, and in the southeastern United States, over South Carolina,” detailed writer Tony Diver for The Telegraph.

There are, of course, problems with this theory. The Japanese government says its pilots have never seen UFOs, meaning we either have a specific American psychosis that makes us see aliens, or that the Japanese refuse to Believe.

Additionally, the map doesn’t show where UFO sightings have happened all over the world, just where they’ve been reported by U.S. military personnel. It makes sense, then, that they would report sightings in these areas — they’re where the U.S. military loves to hang out.

Regardless, some Redditors are riding with the radiation theory anyway. “Nuclear energy must be something they value or have concern with. I wonder if it’s something that impacts them in the other dimensions,” wrote one. “What if nuclear detonations do more than we think, and actually created little portals?” questioned another.

No idea what that means, but sounds exciting!

So, if you want to see UFOs, the move is to either join the military or go to the most irradiated place you can. Two tickets to Chernobyl, please!
