The small rural district of Alto Nanay in Peru is under attack, at least according to its distressed residents. The Ikitu indigenous people who inhabit the region claim that seven-foot-tall translucent green aliens have been terrorizing the town since July 11 and are launching nightly assaults on residents.

“These gentlemen are aliens. They appear to be armored like the Green Goblin from Spider-Man,” Jairo Reátegui Ávila, a community leader said. “I shot one of them twice and he wasn’t injured; he rose and disappeared. We’re very frightened about what’s happening here in our community.”

Footage of the alleged attacks shows frightened onlookers among flashing lights and weapons fire.

“Something is scaring the heck out of those poor people!” @BHall1964 wrote on Twitter.

As a result of the attacks, a 15-year-old girl was reportedly cut on the neck, and the villagers have assembled teams to try and hunt the beings. However, according to them, all conventional human weaponry is useless.

X (Twitter) also shared a photo of a mutilated Peruvian man, with some alleging that he’d “had his face removed with surgical precision” by one of the aliens. However, that image was taken from a video shared months ago, with many attributing his appearance to a piranha attack.

Alto Nanay is a 10-hour boat trip away from the nearest city of Iquitos, and authorities have arrived to assess the situation. It’s unclear whether they found any evidence of the attacks, or will provide military support as the locals have requested.

But while the villagers certainly believe their claims, skeptics on the internet are having a harder time.

“Absolute nonsense. It's a tree,” @UFOSully wrote.

As of now, nobody has reportedly been seriously hurt by the attacks, but after the recent U.S. House Oversight Committee UFO hearing, it’s hard not to at least look into them.
