When you go to a Japanese restaurant like Benihana that serves food teppanyaki-style, you know that you’ll be getting dinner and a show. Those chefs love to show off not only their cooking skills, but also their juggling skills and their crowd work. It’s all part of the experience, and you know that going in, prepared to have a good time.

Unless you’re this guy, the star of a now-viral video in which he looks on in complete disinterest as a chef juggles an egg on the back of his spatula 20 times in a row, which is an incredibly impressive feat. Everyone else around the grill agrees, cheering and applauding the chef for this skills, except for this guy, who doesn’t emote once in the 20-second clip, remaining stone-faced throughout.

The accompanying caption on Twitter reads, “When you’re starving and you have to wait for the chef to finish entertaining the audience,” which I do sympathize with, but if you really are that hungry, why would you not consider takeout instead of going to a sit-down restaurant where you know the chefs like to play with their food?

One Twitter user suggested an alternative explanation for the man’s demeanor: That he’s high as fuck and probably zoning out. If that’s the case, I feel even more sorry for him, since being stoned and hungry around the smell of all that delicious food that you can’t yet eat has to be one of the worst kinds of torture known to man.
