As San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy prepares to face off against the Kansas City Chiefs (and Taylor Nation) at Super Bowl LVII next month, it appears the athlete has found himself at the center of yet another showdown … one between Wikipedia editors desperately trying to scrub his “Big Cock Brock” nickname from the online encyclopedia.

Much like how Chicago Bears quarterback Nick Foles nabbed his now-iconic moniker of “Big Dick Nick,” Purdy’s “Big Cock Brock” nickname stemmed from his allegedly large package … one so big it purportedly required a pair of custom-tailored pants to fit his nuts.

"He's got some balls out there," 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan famously said of Purdy after the NorCal team defeated the Miami Dolphins back in December 2022. “Forgive me for saying it that way."

While initially a running joke between Purdy, his coaches, and his teammates, the moniker — and all of its accompanying jokes — made their way to the NFL player’s Wikipedia page, where editors and fans have found themselves in a standoff over whether the nickname is worthy of being canonized on the Internet’s resident free encyclopedia.

The result of this ongoing feud has resulted in the football star landing nearly 1,000 edits to his Wiki page. As SFGate noted, fellow 49ers player Trent Williams has only had 711 edits to his page throughout his roughly decade-and-a-half NFL career.

This onslaught of NSFW edits ultimately prompted the Wikipedia overlords to take action, designating Purdy’s page as (much like his allegedly massive nuts in his likely custom cup) “semi-protected,” meaning only certain editors can update the page.

We can only hope that Wikipedia, in all its teacher-hated glory, can uphold its duty to the truth … one big schlong at a time.
