Sokushinbutsu- The practice where Buddhist monks would starve themselves to near-death, then seal themselves into a very tiny tomb to slowly die, after a two-year diet of special nuts that would help embalm their body. They would literally mummify themselves.

Joyce Vincent- In 2001, she quit her job. In 2002, she stopped talking to friends and family. In 2006, she was found dead in her apartment with the TV still left on. In 2015, you’re reading this and you’re like, “Waaahh?”

H. H. Holmes- Known as ‘Dr. Henry Howard Holmes,’ this guy built a hotel specifically as a playhouse for him to murder people in. He is suspected of murdering up to 200 people. The murder hotel contained, “a maze of over 100 windowless rooms with doorways opening to brick walls, oddly-angled hallways, stairways to nowhere, doors openable only from the outside, and a host of other strange and labyrinthine constructions.” There was also a “corpse chute” that allowed Holmes to drop bodies from the hotel into the basement.

Death of Elisa Lam- Girl goes missing, security camera footage of her acting erratically in an elevator is found. Her decomposing body is later found in a hotel water tank.
